2023 marked the 125th anniversary of the birth of the Austrian composer Hanns Eisler. This is why the International Hanns Eisler Society Berlin also organised its important Eisler Days in Vienna at the beginning of December. A multi-day scientific symposium with lectures and high-calibre round tables took place, while two exhibitions and concerts rounded off the programme. With the inclusion of the painter Georg Eisler, the composer’s son, and Hanns Eisler’s companion and close friend Erwin Ratz, an interdisciplinary approach was even sought; both would also have celebrated milestone birth and death anniversaries in 2023. One of the events accompanying these Eisler Days was the evening of the Ensemble Kontrapunkte at the Vienna Musikverein on 4 December under the direction of Gottfried Rabl.
