Our Board member Oskar Negt passed away in Hanover on 2 February 2024 at the age of 89. Our sympathy goes out to his family.

The Kosovar Ardian Halimi was selected by a jury as the sixth recipient of the Hanns Eisler Scholarship of the City of Leipzig.

From Bach to Eisler – a musical journey through time is presented by the trombone quartet OPUS4 under the direction of the long-time Gewandhaus trombonist Jörg Richter.

The International Hanns Eisler Society mourns the death of its esteemed and long-standing member of the board, the composer Prof. Dr. Friedrich Cerha. The musicologist em.o.Univ.-Prof. MMag. Dr. Hartmut Krones dedicated an obituary to Cerha.

Hanns Eisler set 40 socially critical texts by Kurt Tucholsky to inspiring and appropriate music in the 1920s/30s as well as in 1957-1961, not least on the initiative of the singer Ernst Busch.
