On May 3rd, pianist, composer and Eisler interpreter Steffen Schleiermacher turned 60. Since the foundation of the musica nova series in the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, he has been committed to the performance of modern 20th century composers. Numerous works by Hanns Eisler were heard in this series. He recently finished and released a highly acclaimed series of 4 CDs – recordings of known and unknown Eisler songs – together with the baritone Holger Falk. A book presentation and the birthday concert of the Gewandhaus planned in his honor unfortunately had to be canceled due to corona. The mdr and numerous press media paid tribute to him.
