A thought-provoking story
Brecht’s 1932 play Die Rundköpfe und die Spitzköpfe (‘The Round Heads and Pointed Heads’) offers a chillingly prescient depiction of how easily a society can collapse into chaos and violence. In the play, Bach sets people with round heads against those with pointed heads. Hanns Eisler composed the music. Kikki Géron and the musicians present a thought-provoking story in this theatrical concert.
Kikki Géron, programmer: ‘At the time, Jewish people were the victims of extreme right-wing thinking. But today, too, we like to point fingers at others. For instance, nowadays it seems acceptable to talk about refugees as fortune seekers. So, unfortunately, Brecht’s story is still relevant today.’
